An insightful effort…

The entire exercise was something like me standing in front of a mirror. I understood in depth who I am.”

There are three people in my life who influenced me. They are the Buddhist monk in my village temple, my wife and this C R L workshop. The lessons learned are indelible in my life.”

I am generally opposed to violence of any sort against anybody. After listening to Dr Charika Marasinghe by no means would I condone physical and or emotional violence against children and I would try and stop others inflicting such violence on children.” Read the rest of this entry »

Nurturing a new generation of responsible future adults: The agenda for the present day adults

Evening of 20th April, at the tail end of the Sinhala Tamil New Year festivities, Dr Charika Marasinghe delivered the Guest Speech to the Colombo Uptown District 3220 Rotarians at Trans Asia Hotel, Colombo. Participants evinced great interest in the child centered activities of C R L and one Rotarian commented, “This is an eye opener. Life is too short. There is no more time to waste. I am determined to work towards improving the lives of children.”

Training of Trainers

Working towards the objective of disseminating knowledge on child rights law, C R L International, director Dr Charika Marasinghe conducted two workshops training trainers working with children under the Caritas Sri Lanka (SEDEC) umbrella.

The two day workshops aimed at personal enhancement of trainers by reflecting on their own limitations and removing obstacles in their attitude towards working with children and raising awareness levels of trainers in child rights law. The participants were from the North and East working in areas of conflict under much pressure. With the assistance of a versatile translator the workshops were held a month apart from each other leaving time for the participants to experience knowledge gained in the first workshop in their own work environments.

The comments of the participants are self explanatory as to the success of the venture.
